BRethren, my hertes desyre and prayer to [ A] God for Israel, is, that they myghte be saued. For I beare thē recorde they haue a feruent mynde towardes God, but not ac∣cordynge to knowledge For beyng ignoraunt of the ryghtousnes whiche is alowed before God, and goynge aboute to stablysshe theyr owne ryghtousnes they are not obedient vn∣to the ryghtousnes whiche is of value before God. For Chryste is the ende of the lawe, to iustyfye all that beleue.
Moses descrybeth the ryghtousnes which commeth of the lawe, that the man whiche doth the thinges of the lawe, shal lyue therin. But the rightousnes which cōmeth of fayth, speaketh on this wyse: Say not in thine hert, [ B] who shall ascende in to heauen (that is no∣thynge els then to fetche Chryst downe) Ey∣ther who shal descende in to the depe?
