The .xxvi. yere of Asa kynge of Iuda be∣ganne [ C] Elah the sonne of Baasa to raygne o∣uer Israel in Therzah, and contynued twoo yere. And his seruaunte Zamri capitayne of halfe his charettes, conspired agaynste him, as he was in Therzah drynckynge of stronge dryncke, in the house of Arza stewarde of his house in Therzah. And Zamri came and smot hym and kylled hym the .xxvij. yere of Asa kynge of Iuda, and raygned in his stede. And as sone as he was kynge and sate on hi•• seate he slue all the house of Baasa and left not a pysser agaynst the wall.
And therto he fiue all his kynne and fren∣des, and so Zamri destroyed all the house of Baasa, accordinge to the worde of the Lorde which he spake to Baasa thorow Iehu ye pro¦phete, for all the synnes of Baasa and synnes of Elah his sonne, wherwith they synned and made Israell synne, to angre the Lorde of Is¦rael with their vanities. The .xxvij. yere of Asa kynge of Iuda, Zā∣ri raygned .vij. dayes in Therzah, the people [ D] besegynge Gebethon a cytie of the Philisti∣nes. And when the people that lay in ye seage herde saye how Zamri had conspired, & how he had slayne the kynge also: then all Israel made Amri the capitayn of the men of warre kynge, that same daye ouer Israel euen in the host. And Amri departed frome Gebethon, & all Israel with him, and beseaged Therzah. And when Zamri sawe that the cytie must ne¦des be taken, he went into the palace of ye kyn¦ges house, & se•• the kynges house a fyre vpon him selfe, and there dyed, for his synnes whi∣che he synned in doynge wyckednesse in ye sight of the Lorde, and for walkynge in the waye of Ieroboam and in his synnes which he dyd and made Israel synne. Moreouer that same season was Israel dyuyded in twayne, for halfe the people folowed The•••••• the sonne of Gineth, to make him kynge, and thother halfe folo∣wed Amri. But the people that folowed Am∣ri, preuayled against thē that folowed Theb∣i•• the sonne of Gineth. And so Theb•••• dyed and Amri raygned.
The .xxxi. yere of Asa kynge of Iuda began Amri to raygne ouer Israel .x••••. yere and ruled sixe yere in Therzah. And he boughte the hyll of Samaria of one Semar for twoo hundred talentes of siluer, and buylt in the hill, & cal∣led the name of the cytie whiche he had buylt [ F] Samaria, after the name of Semar the Lord of the hill. And this Amri wrought wycked∣nesse in the eyes of the Lorde worsse then all that were before him, and walked in all the wayes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nabat, and in his s••nne wherwith he made Israel synne, to angre the Lorde God of Israell with their vanities. And Amri layd•• him to rest with his fa∣thers, and was buryed in Samaria, & Achab his sonne raygned in his stede.
The .xxxviij. yere of Asa kynge of Iuda, be¦gan Achab the sonne of Amri to raygne ouer Israel, and raygned in Samaria .xxij. yere. And he displeased the Lorde aboue all ye were [ G] before him. For it semed him a lyght thinge to walke in the synne of Ieroboam. But toke Iezabel the doughter of Ethbaal kynge of the Sidonites to wyfe, and went and serued Baal and bowed vnto him. And he rered an aultar to Baal in the house of Baal which he hadde made in Samaria. And Achab made a groue, and proceded further in angerynge the Lorde God of Israel, then all the kynges of Israel that were before him.
In his dayes Hiel of Bethel buylt Iericho And it cost him Amram his eldest sonne when he sayde the foundacion, and his youngest son when he set vp the gates, agreynge vnto the worde of the Lorde which he spake by Iosua the sonne of Nun.
