¶ All that are apte for batell are numbred. The trybe of Leuy is appoynted to mynystre to the ta∣bernacle.
CAPI. I.
[ A] ANd the Lord spake vnto Moses in the wil∣dernesse of Sinai, in the tabernacle of wytnesse, the first daye of the se∣conde moneth, and in the seconde yere after they were come oute of the lande of Egypte, say¦enge: Take the somme of the hole multi∣tude of the childrē of Israel, in their kynredes and housholdes of their fathers, and nombre them by name all yt are males, polle by polle, frome .xx. yere and aboue: euen all that are hable to go forth to warre in Israel, thou and Aaron shall nombre them in their armyes, & with you shall be of euery trybe a heedman in the house of his father.
And these are the names of the men yt shall stande with you / of Ruben, Elizur the sonne of Sedeur / of Simeon, Selumiel the sonne of Suri Sadai / of the tribe of Iuda, Nahes∣son the sonne of Aminadab / of Isachar, Na∣thanael the sonne of Zuar / of Zabulon, Eli∣ab the sonne of Helon. Amonge the children of Ioseph / of Ephraim, Elisama the sonne of Amihud / of Manasse, Gamaliel the sonne of Pedazur / of BenIamin, Abidan the sonne of Gedeoni / of Dan, Ahiezer the sonne of Am∣mi Sadai / of Aser, Pagiel the sonne of O∣cran / of Gad, Elisaph the sonne of Deguel / of Nephthali, Ahira the sonne of Enan.
[ B] These were the counsaylours of the cōgre∣gation, and lordes in ye tribes of their fathers and captaines ouer thousandes in Israel. And Moses and Aaron toke these men aboue na∣med and gathered all the congregacion to gi∣ther, the fyrste daye of the seconde moneth, and rekened them after theyr byrth and kyn∣redes and houses of theyr fathers by name frome twentye yere and aboue, hed by hed, as the Lorde commaunded Moses, euen so he nō∣bred them in the wyldernesse of Sinai.
And the children of Ruben Israels eldeste sonne in their generacions, kynredes and hou∣ses of their fathers, when they were nōbred euery man by name, all that were males frō xx. yere and aboue, as many as were hable to go forth in warre: were nombred in the trybe of Ruben .xlvj. thousand and .v. hundred.
Amonge the children of Simeon: their ge∣neracion in their kynredes and houses of their fathers (when euery mans name was tolde) of all the males from .xx. yeres and aboue, as many as were mete for the warre: were nom∣bred in the trybe of Simeon .lix. thousande & three hundred.
Amonge the children of Gad: their gene∣racion [ C] in their kynredes and housholdes of their fathers, when they were tolde by name frome twenty yere and aboue, all that were mete for the warre: were nombred in the tribe of Gad .xlv. thousande, syxe hundred, and fyftye.
Amonge the children of Iuda: their gene∣racion in their kynredes and houses of their fa¦thers (by nombre of names) from .xx. yere and aboue, all yt were hable to warre, were tolde in the trybe of Iuda .lxxiiij. thousande & sixe hundred.
Amonge the children of Isachar: their ge∣neracion in their kynredes and houses of their [ D] fathers (when their names were accompted) frome twenty yere and aboue, what so euer was apte for warre, were nombred in ye trybe of Isachar .liiij. thousande and foure hun∣dred.
Amonge the children of Zabulon: their ge¦neracion in their kynredes and houses of their fathers (after the nombre of names) .xx. yere and aboue, who so euer was mete for ye warre were counted in the trybe of Zabulon .lvij. thousande and .iiij. hundred.
Amonge the children of Ioseph: firste a∣monge the children of Ephraim: their gene∣racion in their kynredes and houses of their fathers (when the names of all that were cō¦uenient to ye warre were tolde (from twenty yeres and aboue: were in nombre in the tribe of Ephraim fourtye thousande, and sixe hun∣dred.
Amonge the children of Manasse: their ge∣neracion, in their kynredes and houses of their fathers (when the names of all that were [ E] fytte to warre were tolde frome twentye and aboue were nombred in the trybe of Manasse xxxij. thousande, and two hundred.
Amonge the children of BenIamin: their generacion, in their kynredes and houses of their fathers (by the case of names) frome twenty yere and aboue of all that were mete for warre, were nombred in the trybe of Ben∣Iamin fyue and thirty thousande, and foure hundred.
Amonge the children of Dan: their genera∣cion in their kynredes and houses of their fa∣thers (in the summe of names) of all yt was ap••e to warre from .xx. yere and aboue, were nombred in the trybe of Dan .lxij. thousande and .vij. hundred.
Amonge the children of Aser / their genera∣cion in their kynredes and houses of their fa∣thers (when they were summed by name) [ F] frome twenty yeres and aboue, all that were apte to warre were nombred in the trybe of Aser one and fourty thousande, and fyue hun∣dred.
Amonge the children of Nephthali: their generacion, in their kynredes and houses of their fathers (when their names were tolde) frome .xx. yeres and aboue, what so euer was mete to wa••re: were nombred in the trybe of Nephthali thre and fyfty thousande and .iiij. hundred.
