Iustification.

19. NOw wee know, that what things soeuer the law saith, it saith to them that are vnder the law; that euery mouth may bee stopped, and all the world may become guiltie before God.

20. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shal no flesh bee iustified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sinne.

Page 82

21. But now the righ∣teousnesse of God with∣out the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law, and the Prophets.

22. Euen the righte∣ousnesse, of God, which is by faith of Iesus Christ vn∣to all, and vpon all them that beleeue; for there is no difference.

23. For all haue sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24. Being iustified free∣ly by his grace, through the redemption that is in Iesus Christ.

28, Therefore we con∣clude that a man is iusti∣fied

Page 83

by faith without the deeds of the law.

31. Do wee then make voyde the law through faith? God forbid: yea we establish the law.

4 To him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5. But to him that wor∣keth not, but beleeueth on him that iustifieth the vn∣godly; his faith is counted for righteousnesse.

13. The promise that he should be the heire of the world was not to Abra∣ham, or his seed thorough the law, but thorough the righteousnesse of faith.

Page 84

14. For if they which are of the law be heires, faith is made voyd and the promise made of none effect.

1. Being iustified by faith wee haue peace with God, through our Lord Iesus Christ:

2. By whom also wee haue accesse by faith into his grace, wherin we stand, and reioyce in hope of the glory of God.

18. As by the offence of one iudgement came vpon all men to condem∣nation: euē so by the righ∣teousnesse of one the free gift came vpon all men

Page 85

vnto iustification of life.

5. Not by workes of righteousnesse which wee haue done, but according to his mercy hee saued vs by the washing of regene∣ration, and renewing of the holy Ghost:

6. Which he shed on vs abundantly, through Iesus Christ our sauiour.

7. That being iustified by his grace, we should be made heires according to the hope of eternall life.

8. By grace are yee sa∣ued through faith, and that not of your selues, it is the gift of God:

9. Not of workes, least

Page 86

any man should boast.

4. Christ is become of none effect vnto you, who∣soeuer of you are iustified by the law; yee are fallen from grace.

5. For we through the spirit, waite for the hope of righteousnesse by faith.

6. For in Iesus Christ, neither circumcision auai∣leth any thing, nor vncir∣cumcision, but faith which worketh by loue.

10. When ye shall haue done all those things, which are commanded you, say, wee are vnprofi∣table seruants: wee haue done that which was our

Page 87

dutie to doe.

8. I count all things but losse, for the excellen∣cie of the knowledge of Christ Iesus my Lord; for whom I haue suffered the losse of all things, and doe count them but dung that I may winne Christ;

9. And bee found in him, not hauing mine owne righteousnes, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteous∣nesse which is of God by faith.

11. Bee not slothfull, but followers of them who through faith and

Page 88

patience inherit the pro∣mise.

2. This onely would I learne of you, receiued ye the spirit by the workes of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3. Are yee so foolish, hauing begun in the spi∣rit, are yee now made per∣fect by the flesh?

11. That no man is iustified by the law in the sight of God, it is euident; for the iust shall liue by faith.

18. If the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gaue it to Abraham by promise.

Page 89

21. For if there had been a law giuen which could haue giuen life, verily righteousnes should haue beene by the law.

22. But the Scripture hath concluded all vnder sinne; that the promise by faith of Iesus Christ might be giuen to them that be∣leeue.

23. But before faith came, we were kept vnder the Law, shut vp vnto the faith which should after∣wards be reuealed.

24. Wherefore the law was our Schoolemaster, to bring vs vnto Christ, that we might bee iustified by

Page 90

faith.

25. But after that faith is come, we are no longer vnder a Schoolemaster.

26. For yee are all the children of God by faith in Christ Iesus.
