§. 5.

The entrance, as Dauid saith, into the Word of the Lord, sheweth light: and gi∣ueth vnderstanding vnto the simple.

For, it is * prooued to bee most pure. It is * the wel-spring of wisedome. And the * beginning of it is truth.

The Lawe of thy mouth, ô Lord, sayth hee, is better vnto mee then thousandes of golde and siluer. By thy precepts haue I gotten vnderstanding.

And, by thy cōmaundements, thou hast made me wiser then mine enemies.

Therefore loue I thy commaundements aboue gold: yea, aboue most fine gold.

I reioyce [also] at thy Word, as one that findeth a great spoyle.

And, my soule (ô Lorde) hath kept thy testimonies; for, I loue them exceedingly.
