§. 2.

Where, (saith Micah) is there anie God like vnto the Lord our God, that taketh a∣way iniquitie, and passeth by, [or winketh at] the transgressions of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his wrath for e∣uer, because mercy pleaseth him.

Hee is, (as Salomon saith) gracious and true, long suffering, & gouerneth al things by mercy.

Hee is, (as Sirach saith) kinde & pittiful: hee pardoneth and forgiueth sinnes: hee saueth in the time of trouble: hee is a de∣fender of all thē that seeke him in the truth. And, * as his greatnes is, so is his mercy.

For, he can no more cease to be mercifull, then he can cease to be God.

The mercie that a man hath, (saith Si∣rach) reacheth vnto his neighbour, but the mercy of the Lord is vpon all flesh.

He is the Father of mercies, & the God of all comfort.

His mercie reacheth vnto the heauens, & his faithfulnesse vnto the clowdes.

His mercie is euerlasting: and his truth endureth from generation to generation.
