[verse 14] With a thick cloud he shadowedthem while the day was light,And with a pillar of light fire,he led them in the night. [verse 15] And in the thirsty wildernessethe stony rocks he clave,And as from the great depths, from themhe drink unto them gave.
[verse 16] From those dry and hard rocks he caus'dgreat streams to issue out,And caus'd the waters to run downlike rivers round about. [verse 17] For all this, more and more they didagainst turn still transgresse,

[verse 18] And in their hearts they God himselftempted by their mistrust,In boldly asking flesh of himto satisfie their lust. [verse 19] Against their God they utter'd words,and spake profanely thus,A Table in the wildernessecan God prepare for us?
[verse 20] Behold, he smote the rock, and thencecame streams and waters great,But can he give his people bread,and give them flesh to eat? [verse 21] The Lord heard this, and waxed wroth,and kindled was a flameIn Jacobs house, and anger greatfrom God on Israel came.
