PSAL. LXXXVI. A Prayer of David.

O Lord, do thou bow down thine ear, and hear me graciously; Because I sore afflicted am, and am in poverty. Because I'm holy, let my soulLine 2 by thee preserved be: O thou my God, thy servant save that puts his trust in thee.
Sith unto thee I daily cry,Line 3 be mercifull to me. Rejoyce thy servants soul: for, Lord,Line 4 I lift my soul to thee. Line 5

For thou art gracious, O Lord,Line 5 and ready to forgive, And rich in mercy, all that call upon thee, to relieve.
Hear, Lord, my pray'r; unto the voiceLine 6 of my request attend. In troublous times I'le call on thee,Line 7 for thou wilt answer send. Lord, there is none among the godsLine 8 that may with thee compare; And like the works which thou hast done not any work is there.
All nations, whom thou mad'st, shall comeLine 9 and worship reverently Before thy face; and they, O Lord, thy Name shall glorify. Because thou art exceeding great,Line 10 and works by thee are done, Which are to be admir'd; and thou art God thy self alone.
Teach me thy way, and in thy truth,Line 11 O Lord, then walk will I: Unite my heart, that I thy Name may fear continually. O Lord, my God, with all my heartLine 12 to thee I will give praise; And I the glory will ascribe unto thy Name alwayes.
Because thy mercy toward meLine 13 in greatnesse doth excell; And thou deliver'd hast my soul

out from the lowest hell. O God, the proud against me rise,Line 14 and violent men have met, That for my soul have sought; and thee before them have not set.
But thou art full of pity, Lord,Line 15 a God most gracious, Long-suffering, and in thy truth and mercy plenteous. O turn to me thy countenance,Line 16 and mercy on me have: Thy servant strengthen, and the son of thine own hand-maid save.
Shew me a signe for good, that theyLine 17 which do me hate, may see, And be asham'd; because thou, Lord, didst help and comfort me.
