Ep. 36. On Fabianus.

I would not have thee pleat or curl thy Hair, Through slovenly Neglect, nor Elf-locks wear; Let not thy Skin with Scurf be over run, Nicely to blanch and sleek it, no less shun; An Eunuch's Chin affect not, smooth and bare, Nor such a horrid Beard as Pris'ners wear; By a Wise Mean avoid the best you can, To appear less, or yet too much, a Man.
But while thy Limbs we rough and brisly find, Effeminate and wanton is thy Mind.
