PSALM CXIV.
In exitu Israel.

WHen Israel by Gods address, 〈♫〉〈♫〉 from Pharachs land was bent: 〈♫〉〈♫〉 And Jacobs house the strangers left, 〈♫〉〈♫〉 and in the same train went. 〈♫〉〈♫〉 [verse 2] In Judah God his glory shew'd, 〈♫〉〈♫〉 his holiness most bright: 〈♫〉〈♫〉 So did the Israelites declare 〈♫〉〈♫〉 his kingdom, pow'r, and might. 〈♫〉〈♫〉 [verse 3] The sea it saw, and suddenly, 〈♫〉〈♫〉 as all amaz'd, did fly: 〈♫〉〈♫〉 the roaring streams of Jordans flood 〈♫〉〈♫〉 recoiled backwardly. 〈♫〉〈♫〉 [verse 4] As rams afraid the mountains skipt, 〈♫〉〈♫〉 their strength did them forsake: 〈♫〉〈♫〉 And as the silly trembling lambs, 〈♫〉〈♫〉 their tops did beat and shake.

What ail'd thee, Sea, at all amaz'd, 〈♫〉〈♫〉 so suddenly to fly? Ye rolling waves of Jordans flood 〈♫〉〈♫〉 why ran ye backwardly? 〈♫〉〈♫〉 [verse 6] Why shook ye hills, as rams afraid? 〈♫〉〈♫〉 why did your strength so shake? 〈♫〉〈♫〉 Why did your tops, as trembling lambs, 〈♫〉〈♫〉 for fear, quiver and quake? 〈♫〉〈♫〉 [verse 7] O earth confess thy sovereign Lord 〈♫〉〈♫〉 and dread his mighty hand: 〈♫〉〈♫〉 Before the face of Jacob's God, 〈♫〉〈♫〉 fear ye both sea and land. 〈♫〉〈♫〉 [verse 8] I mean the God which from hard rocks 〈♫〉〈♫〉 doth cause main floods appear: 〈♫〉〈♫〉 And from the stony flint doth cause 〈♫〉〈♫〉 gush out the fountains clear. 〈♫〉〈♫〉
