PSALME 97.

A meditation upon the day of Iudgement, and a prayer for mercy and salvation.

THe Lord is King, the earth may be glad thereof: yea, the multitude of the Isles may be glad thereof.

2 Clouds and darknesse are round about him: righteousnesse and iudgement are the habitation of his seat.

3 There shall go a fire before him: and burn up his enemies on every side.

4 His lightnings gave shine unto the world: the earth saw it, and was afraid,

5 The hills melted like war at the presence of the Lord: at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6 The heavens have declared his righteous∣nesse: and all the people have seen his glory.

7 Confounded be all they that worship carved images, and that delight in vain gods: worship him all ye gods.

8 Sion heard of it, and reioyced: and the daughters of Iudah were glad, because of thy iudgements, O Lord,

9 For thou, Lord, art higher then all that are in the earth: thou art exalted farre above all gods.

10 O ye that love the Lord, see that ye hate the thing that is evil: the Lord preserveth the souls of his Saints, he shall deliver them from the hand of the ungodly.

11 There is sprung up a light for the righte∣ous: and ioyfull gladnesse for such as be true hear∣ted.

12 Reioyce in the Lord ye righteous: and give thanks for a remembrance of his holinesse.

The Prayer.

O Lord our King, Lord of the whole earth, have mercy upon us, and sanctifie us with thy grace, that we may hate every thing that is e∣vill, that we may love thee, give thankes unto thy name, and rejoyce in remembrance of thy ho∣linesse, that in the day of judgement and great terrors, when thou shalt sit in thy seat supported with righteousnesse and iudgement, and a fire shall go forth from thy presence, to burne up thy enemies on every side, thou maist preserve our soules in safety from the hand of our enemies, and a light may spring up unto us to preserve us

from eternall darknesse and the want of the light of thy countenance, through Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
