XVI.
Prosperity is no proof of patience; Stars
shew not themselves in the day, they appear
brightest in the darkest Winters night; it ar∣gues
courage to chear up, when things go cross
and contrary; to bear a burden, and make no
bones of it, is brave and noble; he is a man
for me that can encounter crosses as uncon∣cerned,
and can endure either heat or cold; I
will sute my self unto my state; if I cannot be
what I will, I will be what I can.
