THe fourth petiti∣on is: Gyue vs this day, our day¦ly bread. In this petition, the bles∣sed man Cyprian doth shewe, that perseuerance and stedfastnes, is vnderstonded to be asked, and praied for, to be had of god. For among other words, the holy man Cyprian, speaketh these

folowyng: We do pray (sayeth he) that this breade, maye be geuen e¦uery day vnto vs lest that we, whi¦che are in Christe, and do receaue daylye, the sacrament of thankes geuynge, for our helthfull foode, thorow som greuous offence, whi∣che we shulde commit, betwene the times of the receiuinge thereof, shold worthely & iustly for the said offēce deserue to be seprated & put frō the body of Christ. These wor∣des of this holye man, do declare, that the saynctes of god, do praye to god, for perseueraunce & sted∣fastnes, whē they do pray, saying, (gyue to vs this day, our dayly bread) yt they shuld not be separa∣ted from the body of Christ, but y they may continue stil in such ho∣lines, as they shuld not cōmyt any crime, for y which they shulde de∣serue, to be seperated, & put frō it.
