Cicero vice-Consull, to Mar∣cus Marcellus his Colleague. Epist. 9.

I Am wondrous gld, that Mrcellus is made Consull, and that your wi∣shes haue taken efect. And no newes could haue come of greater oy vnto me not onely in respect of himselfe, but also in iudging that your vertue meri∣teh al felicity. To this may be annexed, that not onely when Forune fauoured my affires, but also when she frowned on me; I made infallible tryall of the sinceritie o that affection which you bare mee: and finally, I haue alwaies found your houe, ready to procure my honour, and safete, at all times when need required. Wherefore you shall doe me a fauour, to manifest this my contentment to your wife Iunia, a most graue and worthie Lady. I beseech you, loue, and defend me according to your accustomed manner. Farewell.
