Another way to find out the place of the Moone without taking the latitude of any without. Proposition. 48.

SEeke by your crosse staffe to knowe the di∣stance betwixt the Moone and any two stars that you know & are to be found in the globe. That done, drawe vpon the globe on either starre an obscure circle according to the di∣stance of the Moone from either of those two stars, which two circles will cut or crosse one another but in 2. points, the one whereof is the place of the Moon, and which of those places it should be, your eie will easilie tell you. And by this meanes it were no hard thing (as Gemma Frisius satih) for our sea men in these daies to finde out all the starres that be in the nether Hemispheare and were vn∣knowne

to Ptolomie and to the other auncient Astronomers, and to cause them to be set downe in the Globe, yea and by this art the places of the rest of the Planets may be found out as well accor∣ding to their Latitude as Longitude.

Moreouer Gemma Frisius sayth, that by knowing the true place of the Moone in the Zodiaque, you may also finde out ther∣by the vnknowne Longitude of any Region.
