SIXE
CVNNING
AND CRVELL
Robbers, hauing the heads of
Doues, but the tailes of Scorpions:
sent from the bottomlesse pit, by the
arch-enemie of Gods babes, to with∣draw
them from the path-way which
leadeth to the paradise of God; and
for drawing them towards and hol∣ding
them on, in that by-way which
tendeth downewards vnto that
lake, out of the which there
is no redemption.
MAT. 10. 16.
Behold I send you as sheepe in the midst of woolues, be
ye therefore wise as serpents, and simple as doues.
REVEL. 12. 7. 8.
And there was a battell in heauen, Michael and his
Angels fought against the Dragon; and the Dragon
and his Angels fought, but they preuailed not.
BERN.
Hic mundus, non est nisi nemus, plenum latronibus,
ideo per illud est cautè ambulandum. This world,
is nothing but a wood, layed full of Robbers; and
therefore it is needfull that we walke circumspectly
through it.
