A Fomentation for oedema.

Nucum cupressi, granorum sumach,* 1.1 balaustij, ana.℥.j. saluiae, origani, cala∣menti, hyssopi, melissae, ana.m.j. absynthij, plantag. caudae equinae, tapsi barbati, cen∣tinodij, ana. m.ss. aluminis, tartari & salis communis, ana.ʒ.j. Boyle them in lixiuio communi, and so vse it with spunges.

A Fomentation for suffusion of the eyes.

A Fomentation against the enlarging of the apple of the eye.

Rec. Rosarum, myrtillorum,* 1.3 ana. m.j. meliloti, anthos, ana.m.ss. nucum cupressi, nu.ij. vini nigri spissi lib.j.ss. aquae ros. aquae myrtillorum, ana.℥.iij. Bruse what is to be brused, and boyle them to the halfe of the wine and waters. Use it with a spunge.

Bruse the aforesayd things, and mixe them with the waters, wherein you shall dippe a spunge and applie it.

A fomentation for the swelling in the bellie, or tumor in the flanke called Bubo venereus.

Rec. Cumini,* 1.7 baccarum lauri, seselios, rutae, ana.℥.j. Boile them in sufficient gentle binding wine and lee, wherewith you shall bathe the place affected.

A fomentation to dissolue winde in th windie rupture.

Rec. Radicum bistortae, radic. symphiti vtriusque, ana.℥.j.ss. hyperici, polygoni, fo∣liorum rubi, ana.m.j. sem. cumini, anisi, ana ℥.j. nasturtij torrefacti ℥.ss. florum staecha∣dos,

A Fomentation for the cold apostume called vndimia in the armes and legges.

A fomentation for a watrie rupture.

Rec. Lixiuij barbitonsoris, lib.iiij. in quo bulliant seminis cumini ℥.ij. semen petro∣selini & apij, ana.℥.ss. salis com. lib.j. And make a Foment.

A fomentation for the hemrhoydes.

Rec. Maluae, bismaluae, brancae vrsi∣nae, ana.m.ij. chamaemeli, staechados arabici & citrini, ana.m.j. Mixe them together and boyle them in water sufficient, and with a spunge foment the place affected.

A fomentation to dissolue, scatter, and vent forth contused bloud, making a bunch or knobbe in the flesh, the skinne being whole.

Vini nigri lib.iij. lixiuij barbiton∣soris* 1.8 lib.j.ss. nucum cupressi aliquantulum trituratarum nu.x. myrtillorum, rosarum, absynthij, ana.m.ss. aluminis rochae ℥.ss. co∣riandrorum, cymini, calami aromatici, ana.ʒ.ij. Boyle them all together to the wasting of a third part. A spunge wet herein warme must bee bound to the place, and daylie re∣newed. It resolueth (saith the author) mer∣ueilouslie.

Another, which being applied at first, within two dressings (at furthest) dispatcheth the matter.

Rec. Albumen oui vehementer agita∣tatum,* 1.9 adde hereunto olei myrtini & pulu. myrtillorum, ana.℥.j. Stirre them well to∣gether, & with a linnen stuph first wet in vi∣neger and water equall portions, wrung out againe, applie this mixture to the place.

Powder what is to be powdered and boyle them to the consumption of one pound. Then distill them, and with that li∣quor bath the wound or vlcer.

A fomentation against vomiting in the cure of wounds and vlcers or bruses.

Rec. Absynthij, musci odorati, rosarum rubrarum, ana.m.ss. cariophyllorum, ma∣sticis, macis, ana.ʒ.ij. cinamomi, nucis mosc. ciperi, ana.ʒ.j. Boyle them in red wine, and being warme moyst a spunge therein, and bathe the region of the ventricle therewith morning and euening.

A fomentation against vomiting after the healing of old vlcers.

Rec. Absynthij, menthae, rosarum rubr. ana.℥.j. galangae, cinamomi, ana.ʒ.iij calami odorati ʒ.j. masticis ʒ.iiij. squinanti ʒ.j.℈.j. florum chamaemeli ʒ.vj. florum anthos ʒ.iij. zedoariae, ℈.ij. mosci, ℈.j. First bruse the herbes, and then the rest, and put them in a

cloath, and boile them in ii. pound of malm∣sie, and rose-water three ounces, with the pulpe of one quince, till halfe be wasted, and with a spunge foment the region of your stomack indifferently warme; after that ap∣plie the herbes which were sodden, in man∣ner of a cushion, and when it beginneth to be cold, renew it warme, especially in the mor∣ning and before meales.

A fomentation for virulent, corrosiue and rebellious vlcers.

Aquae plantag. aquae rosarum,* 1.10 ana.℥.iij. balaustiorum, myrtillorum, ana. parū, myrabolanorum citrinorum ʒ.ij. aluminis rochae, ʒ.ij.ss. terrae sigillatae, ʒ.iij. santalo∣rum omnium, ana.ʒ.j. aquae endiuiae, ℥.ij. mellis ros.℥j. Boyle them to the consump∣tion of the third part. Sraine it, and vse it.

A fomentation to drie an vlcer, and to bring it to cicatrization.

A fomentation to dissolue, mollifie, and driue away winde.

* 1.13Rec. Maluarum cum radic. m.j. florum chamaemeli, meliloti, ana.p.j. sem. lini ℥.j. anisorum ℥.ss. ficus nu. xl. Boyle them in water, till the third part be wasted, and fill a bladder with the decoction, and applie it to the side affected once or twice.

A fomentation for paine in the huckle bone.

And with this decoction foment the hands.

An effectuall fomentation for cold tumors.

An excellent fomentation for the beginning and augmentation of an inflamation.

A fomentation for an Ache.

* 1.19Rec. Apij, leuistici, solatri, ana.m.j. or ij. seui ouini, q.s. coquantur ex foecibus vini albi, vel aceti albi, vel ceruisiae bonae, Lappe them after in a cloath, and so foment and binde them to the part.

A fomentation to remoue the extreame itch that happeneth in the purse of the Testicles.

A fomentation to mollifie the caruncle.

Boyle all these a good space, and let the patient sit ouer it and receiue the fume thereof, or with a spunge let it bee warme applied for seauen or eight daies.
