Knitting is a process by which one creates with long and slim needles, or prongs of iron or polished brass, certain materials of silk, wool, cotton, hemp, linen or hair through small knots, loops or stitches, which are seen in stockings, hats, camisoles and other similar clothing goods. Knitting or hand knitting is also used to describe the stitching of socks, camisoles, hats, etc. This word also describes bobbin lace of silk or thread made with pins and bobbins on a cushion according to a pattern on paper or vellum. Thus it refers to the work with pins and bobbins on a cushion that is involved in the making of lace.
