TYRANNICIDE, tyrannicida, when used by Latin authors, denoted the murder of a tyrant. Monsieur d’Ablancourt recounted the first tyrannicide in his lovely translation of Lucian, he should be well received by all of those with any taste. [1]

1. Nicolas Perrot d’Ablancourt (1606-1664) was a French translator. “His translations were the first to be graced with the epithet ‘belles infidèles’ (beautiful but unfaithful).” André Lefevere, Translation — History, Culture: A Sourcebook: Translation Studies, illustrated.
