Plate I: Marble Work, Simple Panels of Tiles of Different Shapes
The top illustration of this plate represents a marble mason's workshop scattered here and there with blocks of marble of all kinds, at the end of which there is a type of warehouse where one can work under cover. In this workshop there are several workmen diversely employed, one (a) sawing blocks, another (b) cutting a block of marble to make a tomb, and another (c) at work in the warehouse, his marble sections leaning against the warehouse for stability. At the front are several mantlepieces, squares and slabs of marble.
