Leeds, English town in Yorkshire, with the title of Duchy, which was formerly the residence of the kings of Northumbria during the heptarchy. The town is on the river Aire, 20 miles to the south-west of York, 139 miles to the north-west of London. Long. 15. 58. latit. 53. 43.
