[verse 2] in þe clepynge þat ȝe beþ y-cleped, wiþ al humelnesse & man|suetude, wiþ pacyence, berynge up eferichone oþer in charite; [verse 3] & be ȝe bysy to kepe þe vnyte of Spiryt in þe bond of pees. [verse 4] On body, & on spiryt, as ȝe beþ y-cleped in on hope of ȝoure [verse 5] , [verse 6] clepynge; on Lord, on feiþ, on baptysme, on God & Fader [on fader P.] of alle þinges, & abofen alle þinges, & by alle þinges, & in ous alle. [verse 7] And to eferich of ȝou is y-graunted grace aftur þe mesure of þe ȝefynge of Crist. [verse 8] Wherfore he seiþ, He þat styeþ up an hyȝ þrowȝ awey wrecchednesse, & ȝef ȝiftes to men. [verse 9] And what is þat, þat he steyȝ up an hyȝ, bote þat he come doun first in-to þe neþer partyes of þe erþe? [verse 10] & he þat com doun is he þat steyȝ up a-bofen alle hefenes to fulfullen alle þinges. [verse 14] Þat we ne ben noȝt nouþe smale children, fletynge abrood, ne ben noȝt y-boren aboute with eferych wynd of techynge, in þe wykkednesse of men, in gyle, [verse 15] to þe deceyt of [P folio 57] errour; bote do we trewþe in charite, & waxe [verse 16] we in hym þoroȝ alle þinges, þat is oure hed, Crist; of whom al þe body is y-knyt to-geder by eferich myȝt of mynystrynge, þoroȝ worchynge in mesure of eferich membre, þat makeþ þe waxynge of þe body in þe buyldynge of hym in charyte. [verse 17] And þerfore y sey ȝow, & wytnesse to ȝow in oure Lord, þat ȝe ne walkeþ noȝt nouþe as mysbylefed men, þat walkeþ in [verse 18] vanyte of hure wyt, hauynge a derke vnderstondynge y-mad darke þoroȝ darknesse, & beþ alyened from þe wey of God, þoroȝ þe vnkunnyngenesse þat is in hem, for þe blyndenesse [verse 19] of hure hertes; and þei dispeyrynge han y-taken hem-selfen to vnclannesse, in worchynge of eferyche vnclannesse in-to couetyse. [verse 20] , [verse 21] Bote ȝe ne haueþ not so y-lernyd Crist; & ȝif ȝe han y-herd hym, & beþ y-tauȝt in hym, as trewþe is in Iesu:

[verse 22] do ȝe a-wey ȝoure olde conuersacyoun, & þe olde man þat [verse 23] is corrupt þoroȝ þe desyres of errour; & be ȝe renewed in þe [verse 24] spyryt of ȝoure þouȝt, & cloþeþ ȝow wiþ a newe man, þat is y-schape [þ]orouȝ [P; ȝorouȝ S.] God in ryȝtfulnesse & in holynesse of trewþe. [verse 25] Wherfore, do ȝe a-wey lesynge, & speke ȝe trewþe eferych man wiþ his neyȝbore: for we beþ eferychone [S folio 50] membres to oþer. [verse 26] Be ȝe wroþ, & ne sunge ȝe noȝt: ne þe [verse 27] sonne go noȝt a-doun vp-on ȝoure wraþþe: ne ȝefe ȝe no stude [P folio 57b] to þe defel. [verse 28] He þat haþ y-stolen here byfore, ne stele he noȝt nouþe: bote trauayle he more, worchynge wiþ his honden þat þing þat is good, & he haue wher-of to ȝefen [ȝefen repeated in the margin, 1st corr. S.] to hym þat haþ nede. [verse 29] Ne passe þer non euel word out of ȝoure mouþ, bote ȝif þer is any good word to edefyynge of þe feiþ, þat ȝefe grace to hem þat hereþ. [verse 30] & ne sorowe ȝe noȝt þe holy Spiryt of God, in whom ȝe beþ y-marked in þe day of redempcyoun. [verse 31] Eferych bitternesse, & wraþþe, & indygna|cyoun, & cryynge, & blasphemye, be don a-wey from ȝou, & [verse 32] eferyche malice: & be ȝe benygne eferychone to oþer, & mercyful, & forȝefynge eferychone oþer, as God haþ forȝouen ȝou in Crist.
