TO CHARLOTTE SMITH.

A FRAGMENT.

ILL‐fated Charlotte, whose enlighten'd mind Exalted Genius by true taste refined; For whom the Loves that hail'd thy natal morn Wove wreaths of roses, and conceal'd each thorn! And, since no more is left them to bestow, Sigh o'er the sorrows, thou art doom'd to know.
