gents certain property within the bounds of Volland Street
and Washtenaw and Geddes Avenues, in the City of Ann
Arbor.
On motion of Regent Clements, the Board voted that
the Buildings and Grounds Committee be authorized to
proceed with the construction of a new laundry building,
but not to expend or contract, without further action by the
Regents, more than the sum of $20,000 already set aside.
On motion of Regent Beal the Board adopted the following resolution:Resolved, "That the funds heretofore appropriated by
the Board for the purchase of books and periodicals, and
now unexpended, be placed at the disposal of the Library
Committee of the Regents and the Library Committee of
the Faculty for such purchases as they may jointly decide
upon."
On motion of Regent Sawyer, the Board authorized the
acceptance of the following proposal presented by Regent
Clements:
On motion of Regent Sawyer the following resolution
was adopted:Resolved, That the approval of the Board be given
Regent Clements in his negotiation, for the University, for
the so-called "Beer Collection of Books and Manuscripts,"
and in the event of purchase by him of this collection the
University shall have the privilege of adding the same
to the University Library at the cost price, or of returning
the same to him, in which event he shall pay entirely for the
same.
On motion of Regent Gore, the Board authorized the refunding of 40% of the annual fee paid by Philip A. Hadsell,
who was enrolled in the University during the first semester and who took only a few days'. work in the second semester, although he was in attendance at classes after the
first two weeks of the second semester.
On motion of Regent Gore, the Board declined to accept
the registration of Georgia Mabel Davis as a resident of
Michigan and directed that if her registration be continued it must be as a resident of the state of Iowa.
