678 JANUARY MEETING, 1917 being the sum of $291.40 for water coolers and bottles which remain in the storehouse for use at any time the City water supply becomes contaminated. Dean Cooley transmitted the resignation of Assistant Professor Tomlinson Fort of the Department of Mathematics in the College of Engineering. This resignation was accepted to take effect at the close of the present semester. On motion of Regent Hubbard, the Board granted Dean Cooley's request for permission to use such unexpended portion of the salary of Professor F.W. Pawlowski, on leave for the second semester without pay, as might be necessary in order to carry on his work while he is absent. Dean Cooley communicated to the Regents gifts as follows:-From the Hudson Motor Car Company, of Detroit, various forms of automobile parts. From the Koehring Machine Company, of Milwaukee, a small concrete mixer for use in the Highway Laboratory. On motion of Regent Hubbard, the President was requested to express the thanks of the Regents for these co-operations with the work of the University. A communication from Mr. Bartelme, Director of Outdoor Athletics, with respect to the numbers to be allowed in attendance at any indoor meet or similar gathering in W\aterman Gymnasium and with respect also to the use of the running track as a gallery for a small number of spectators, on motion of Regent Beal, was referred to the Buildings and Grounds Committee and the Secretary, with power, and this power was extended to the matter of providing such exits as should in the opinion of the committee be adequate. On motion of Regent Beal, the Board made the following appointments as recommended by the Dean of the Summer Session, within the budget as adopted December 22, last: — COLLEGE OF LITERATURE, SCIENCE, AND THE ARTS Greek Instructor F. E. Robbins............ 96 hrs. $300.00 Romance Languages Professor A. G. Canfield...........64 hrs. 500.00 Professor C. P. Wagner..........64 hrs. 500.00
