74 SPECIAL METRICAL AXIOMS [CH. VIII axiom is required which secures that the boundary of the proper projective points is a quadric. Then it is to be noticed that one and only one congruence group exists in the descriptive space, namely that one which corresponds to this definite quadric. Perhaps the most direct form of the axiom is to assert that a hyperbolic congruence group exists.
