- Narrative
- A famous piece of prose written by Atatürk as a tribute the ANZAC soldiers, that is, the troops from Australia and New Zealand who fought at the 1915 allied landing at Gallipoli. This passage is featured in the ceremony for ANZAC day, held on the 25th of April every year. This event is a site of pilgrimage for Australians and New Zealanders, whose countries bore a disproportionate brunt of the casualties on the allied side in World War I. Turks, Australians, and New Zealanders are drawn together on ANZAC day to partake in a shared sense of the injustice of imperialism.
