ToImprove the Academy would not be possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of myriad members of the higher education community whose work it reflects and advances. We received forty-eight manuscripts, all of them with significant merit, and our reviewers were indispensable in helping us make some very hard choices. As a result of a double-blind peer review process, the editorial team selected twenty-one manuscripts for publication. Each manuscript received, on average, four reviews from a total of 102 reviewers. Many experienced reviewers from To Improve the Academy, Vol. 31 signed on again for this volume, as did many people who had also submitted manuscripts, and many new colleagues volunteered to join us. In the "spirit of POD," the reviews we received were timely, thorough, thoughtful, and constructive and reflected the diversity of per spectives that is one of the many strengths of our organization.
Those reviewers who worked so diligently to bring you the best possible To Improve the Academy, Vol. 32 are Karen Adsit, Pamela Arrington, Isis Artze-Vega, Kola Babarinde, Dorothe Bach, Donna Bailey, Julianna Banks, Pamela Barnett, Gabriele Bauer, Danilo Baylen, Helen Bergland, Victoria Bhavsar, Phyllis Blumberg, Kate Brinko, Neal Bryan, Susanna Calkins, Rosemary Capps, Shiladitya Chaudhury, Chris Clark, Jeanette Clausen, Eli Collins-Brown, Kathryn Cunningham, Bonnie Daniel, Michele DiPietro, Rebecca Dueben, Angeles L. Thanks are due to Hoag Holmgren, executive director of the POD Network, for supporting our efforts; the POD Publication Committee; and the entire editorial team at Jossey-Bass for their prompt responses and gentle reminders. My sincere appreciation goes to the Auburn University for professional support for this endeavor. Special thanks are due to Amy Vaughan for her efficiency, diligence, and editorial support for this project. My collaboration with associate editor Laura Cruz has been excep tional. She has contributed editorial excellence to TIA and personal support to me, and I have enjoyed working with her for the past two years. TIA’s future is bright under her leadership. This volume is truly a team effort, and its quality and comprehensiveness are attributable in no small measure to her work. With the completion of this volume, I pass To
Improve the Academy into her capable hands.
