A volume of this type would not be possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of myriad members of the community whose work it reflects and documents. We received fifty-four manuscripts, all of them with significant merit, and fortunately we were able to trust our reviewers to help us make some very hard choices. We distributed 220 reviews across seventy-seven reviewers. Many experienced reviewers from To Improve the Academy, Vol. 29 signed on again for this volume, as did many people who had also submitted manuscripts, and many new colleagues volunteered to join us. The reviews we received were, for the most part, timely, thorough, thoughtful, and constructive. Taken together, the four reviews of each manuscript reflected the diversity of perspectives that is one of the many strengths of our organization. Many authors whose manuscripts were ultimately rejected expressed their thanks for helpful comments that would inform continuation of their work.

Those reviewers who worked so diligently to bring you the best possible To Improve the Academy, Vol. 30 are Roberta Ambrosino, Dorothe Bach, Donna Bailey, Gabriele Bauer, Danilo Baylen, Delores Bertoti, Victoria Bhavsar, Donna Bird, Phyllis Blumberg, Jim Borgford-Parnell, Susanna Calkins, Chris Clark, Jeanette Clausen, Eli Collins-Brown, Bonnie Daniel, Michele DiPietro, Sally Ebest, Donna Ellis, Bonnie Farley-Lucas, Beth Fisher, Christopher Garrett, Judy Grace, David Green, Jace Hargis, Nira Hativa, Jason Hendryx, Jennifer Herman, Sue Hines, Linda Hodges, Katherine Hoffman, Mikaela Huntzinger, Sallie Ives, Wayne Jacobson, Doug James, Kathleen Kane, Bruce Kelley, Bruce Larson, Marion Larson, Jean Layne, Virginia Lee, Jean Mandernach, Jean Martin-Williams,Jeanette McDonald, Sal Meyers, Theresa Moore, Bonnie Mullinix, Ed Neal, Linda Noble, Ed Nuhfer, Leslie Ortquist-Ahrens, Patrick B. Thanks are due to Hoag Holmgren, executive director of the POD Network, for supporting our efforts, and to David Brightman and Aneesa Davenport of Jossey-Bass for their prompt responses and gentle reminders. My sincere appreciation goes to the University of North Florida for providing logistical support for this endeavor. Special thanks are due to Summer Sullivan for her efficiency, diligence, and sharp editorial eye.

My collaboration with associate editor Jim Groccia has been both productive and enjoyable-all that I had hoped and expected, and far more. This volume is truly a team effort, and its quality and comprehensiveness are attributable in no small measure to his work. With the completion of this volume, I pass To Improve the Academy into his capable hands.
