The "Archive" is the heart of the website. It is a growing collection of historical and contemporary materials such as maps, photographs, personal letters, and government records. Most of the documents are available at the Bentley Historical Library, located on the North Campus of the University of Michigan.
Use the keyword option above to search for documents related to your area of interest. You can search by subject, such as "railroad" or "Huron River," or you can search by document type, such as "letter" or "newspapers." The search results will appear as a list with a thumbnail sketch of each document. Click on the document to receive a larger image. Documents that are difficult to read appear as both originals and transcriptions.
