About the construction

Description: This gable front Folk House has a steeply pitched roof with off-street entry porch. The covered porch has square supports and balustrade. A one- story wing attaches to the rear. The house is sided with aluminum and has a detached three car garage.
Date Of Construction: ca.1888
Context: This gable front house was a common style during the last half of the nineteenth century. This house is somewhat unusual in that the roof is steeply pitched and the entry door is on the side, rather than the front of the house. The steeply pitched roof is reminiscent of the Gothic style, offering the possibility that the house had Gothic trim at one time. Some remodeling was done in 1951.
