About the construction

Description: This Craftsman style house has its original glazed masonry exterior with aluminum siding on the cross gables. The gable front porch has square sloping wooden columns on brick piers and base. The wall of the open porch on the south facade has an area of rolled glass, once a garage door opening. A one story rectangular aluminum sided addition with garage is attached to the rear.
Date Of Construction: 1923
Context: This Craftsman house is typical in its massing and front porch with sloping piers, but somewhat unusual with its glazed brick siding which is original to the house. Built in 1923, the garage was remodeled into a den in 1955. Henry and Louise Schroen lived here in the 1940s. Current owner Eugene Leuthheuser is the former proprieter of Leuthheuser's restaurant, a Saline landmark which was started by his father, Henry, in the 1920s.
