About the construction

Description: This two story Folk Victorian side gabled house with rear wing sits on a stone foundation. Three porches attach to the house: an open front porch with wood supports, a hipped roof entry porch on the north facade, and an open porch on the south side of the rear wing. Although the house is aluminum sided, the side porch and some of the window hoods retain Victorian styling.
Date Of Construction: ca.1885
Context: Henry Boettger was a farmer before moving into the village of Saline where he did landscape work. He and his wife Ida had five daughters and two sons. Mr. Boettger was born in Saline Township September 3, 1861, and died October 21, 1941. The house was remodeled in 1940 and made into apartments in 1947.
