About the construction

Description: One story masonry commercial building with recessed entry next to modern plate glass window above sandstone covered base. Fluted pilaster on west side of store front and signage above. Second story destroyed by fire.
Date Of Construction: ca.1900
Context: Fire which destroyed the second story of the building, and remodeling of the exterior have completely altered the origingal appearance of the structure. The building has contributed to the commercial and social life of the community through its use as a restaurant and beverage store, variety store, and tavern. When fire destroyed part of the building in 1957, friends and patrons of the tavern supplied the labor to rebuild it.
