About the construction

Description: One story, side gabled Folk House. Roofline breaks as it extends over full width porch. Porch is glass enclosed. Windows are one light over one, and two vertical lights over one. Aluminum siding. One story addition to rear, and another to the south. Stone foundation. White barn near river; two other outbuildings nearer road.
Date Of Construction: 1891 ca.
Context: Three outbuildings on property. Douthat purchased in 1980 from Leonard who lived there for 48 years. Speculated that the house was built about 1891 because of finding old Detroit Tribune newspapers, dated 1891, nailed to ceiling in basement. Probably one large room originally. Added kitchen and bathroom to south and two bedrooms to north in the 1920's.
