About the construction

Description: Gable front and wing Folk House. Gable section is two stories, and the wing section is one and a half story. Hipped roof porch across the wing with tapered supports resting on brick piers. Plain wood balustrade. Windows are four lights over four. One story addition to rear. Clapboard siding. Two gabled roof barns at rear.
Date Of Construction: 1880 ca.
Context: This house is on the 1888 Sanborn map. The present porch was added between 1921-1929, according to the Sanborn maps. The previous porch extended only about halfway across the wing. John Wurster and his wife, Dorthy, lived in the house from about 1915 through 1941. John was a mason by trade. His son, Clarence, and Florence Napier owned the house in 1944-1952. Simon Brown 1955-1960; Roy Deckert 1961-1965; Owen Cady 1966-1971; Billie MacDonald 1972-1983; Douglas Smith 1984; and Andrew and Brenda Scotten are the current owners. This house is listed on the National Register as part of the North Ann Arbor Street Historic District.
