- Context
- Built by Carl Curtiss who later became president of Citizens' Bank. Carl and Vera lived in the house until at least 1935, then moved to 300 E. Michigan (the Davenport House). Their son, Bliss, and his wife lived in the house until 1970. Bliss Curtiss added the two car garage in 1966. After Bliss moved, 212 became a parsonage for the Presbyterian church. In 1987, Doug McNeil bought the house; 1990, Steve Shiffman; 1994, Emmy Liston. The house was built at the end of the Queen Anne period, and is a transitional style between the victorian and twentieth century styles. Queen Anne characteristics are: shape, irregular wall surfaces, and bays. Colonial Revival features are: Palladian window; multipaned windows; and windows in sets of three or more.
