{The following text is written perpendicularly along the left margin: I do not expect to receive as many goods as I have done heretofore, & then I shall have more time for other things. With love to the Society, to thy mother & thyself. Good night. Julia.} Please write soon. 2d. There is a Com. lady taking care of a sick man at a secesh house on Royal St. She says & others say that they abuse a young girl that lives there dreadfully. She has been their slave & she does not not know but she is yet. If there was a place to put the girl a little while I should try to get her away. I hope I can yet do so. I find more & more to do every day. Then all the work to do at the [Room?]! & Mr. G. & Dr. B. to annoy & vex us. In order to write what thee wishes me to I must be composed & quiet, & not be driven with work, & such a state I have not been in in some time. Some things that I have to do now can't be put off. If I should wait Mr. G. would get somethings fixed so that we could not undo them. Mrs. J. says nothing more about going away. She begins to see what she can do now, & I hope she will keep well & be able to do it. - She has considerable decision of character & she does not mean to be imposed upon by Mr. G. or Dr. B. - We like Dr. Shaw but,
