one I had written to her last
winter but which was returned
to me through our dead letter
office as being sent back from
Rochester - I believe that letter
would have explained the matter
thou inquires about - However
I shall go a little more into
the subject though it is most
probable my other letter has
reached by this time.

All we sent whether in money
or in goods was placed at
the disposal of the Rochester
Ladies A S Society with the expec=
tation that it would assist
them in the first place to provide
for the necessities of the fugitives
on their way to Canada including
food clothes and passage money
also a testatment or bible to
each one that could read
- Those necessities met the
next object we have had
