10. At this point I should reassure my reader that Mohanty's fears represent general tendencies; postcolonial theory is, of course, too varied and complex a discipline for any single encapsulation. But even considering the very real theoretical diversity within the field, (for example, see Bhabha's survey essay "Postcolonial Criticism"), the widespread acceptance of radical alterity, cultural determinism, and a devalued universalism seems indisputable.
