- Photographs primarily of unidentified Osage Indian men, women and children (both individual and group portraits; studio and outdoor) and other scenes from Osage Reservation as well as Pawhuska, Oklahoma Territory, taken approximately between 1880 and 1900. Contents include photographs of Osage Agency buildings, Indian Boys and Girls Homes, Osage encampments, buildings in Pawhuska, cattle ranching, Osage infants in cradleboards, Osage men, women, children and chiefs wearing western and traditional clothing, as well as ceremonies and dances. An individual portrait (pg. 1) and two group photos (pgs. 5 and 8) show Chief James Bigheart in western clothing, while a portrait of Ma-Chet-Seh can be found on the left-hand side of the second page. Images captioned "Sun Dance" are likely related to Fourth of July celebrations. Of particular note is a photograph of two Osage children and hidden mother in the background. 12 photographs including images of Pawhuska buildings and street scenes, white American sightseers at "Lover's Leap" rock formation and Osage lodge with inverted American flag possibly taken by unidentified compiler of album while remainder of photographs taken by George W. Parsons. Several photographs supplied with captions.
