Full length studio portrait of Bonito standing before backdrop and desert vegetation dressed in mixture of western and traditional clothing and carrying shotgun, revolver, and two cartridge belts.
Image used as part of exhibit curated by Charles F. Fish during the Second International Congress of Eugenics in New York City in 1921.

Title derived from image caption.
Bonito's tribal affiliations are uncertain. He was either originally a member of the White Mountain Apache who married into the Bedonkohe Band of Central Apache Indians or vice versa.
"Chiricahua Indians" variant names: Hen-de, Nde, Tsokanende.
"White Mountain Apache Indians" variant names: Dzil Ligai Si'án N'dee, Sierra Blanca Indians.
