Notes: Studio group portrait of unidentified Oto Indian man and wife posing before illustrated backdrop. The man wears mixture of western and traditional clothing including hair feather, porcupine roach headdress, shell and bead necklaces, wool leggings with bead and silk ribbon embroidery, woven beadwork garters, moccasins, and necklace affixed with presidential peace medal while holding bead embroidered tobacco bag. The wife wears mixture of western and traditional clothing including bead necklaces, blouse decorated with German silver brooches, and skirt decorated with silk ribbon applique while holding blanket/skirt decorated with silk ribbon applique. Original negative likely produced approximately 1870 to 1880.; Title devised by cataloger.; "Oto Indians" variant names: Jiwére Indians, Otoe Indians.
