- Half length portrait of Big Breast Plate seated bare-chested before log cabin wearing hair feather, otter fur hair wrap, choker necklace, and German silver pectoral ornament while holding eagle wing fan and pipe. Tribal affiliation of subject uncertain; likely Lakota, Yankton or Yanktonai. Original negative likely produced approximately 1870 to 1872.
- Contemporary inscribed image caption on verso: Ponca Warrior; Includes German translation.
- Printed on front left-hand margin: Photographic Gems from the Great North-West.
- Printed on front right-hand margin: Photographed and Published by S.J. Morrow, Yankton, Dakota.
