Manila and the Philippines.

The province of Cebu is girded with good roads. The road from Dumanjug runs along the western coast of the island; it winds eastward on the southern end and extends along the eastern coast, passing through Oslob, Dalaguete, Argao and Sibonga, and back to Carcar. It takes one whole day to complete this trip around the southern end of Cebu, starting from Cebu city. TOURS IN CEBU (ONE DAY) By private car:-Visit Plaza Independencia, Cross of Magellan (Santa Cruz), historic San Augustin Church and Calle Colon (the oldest street in the Philippines). Continue to the mountains of Toledo. A round trip from Cebu to the highest peak on the road to Toledo will take about three hours. A trip to the town of Toledo will take five hours. Note:-If trip is made to the town of Toledo, take a lunch, if only to the highest peak, return to the ship for lunch. In the afternoon, drive on the north road to Consolacion where the Eversley Child Leprosarium is established. A drive to Liloan, near Consolacion, is also very interesting. The beach there is beautiful. On return trip to the steamer, pass through Talisay on the south where there are excellent pools of fresh water. (TWO OR THREE DAYS) North Road:-Leave Cebu for Bogo by automobile; visit the Medellin Sugar Central. Leave Cebu in the morning about 9:00 a. m. Return in the afternoon. South Road:-By automobile to Barili where you find a sulphur swimming pool called "Boloc-boloc." This drive is beautiful. Before reaching Bariii, you pass through Mainit, a barrio of the town of Carcar. This barrio is noted for its sulphur hot spring. Return by way of Sibonga. Note:-Leave Cebu in the morning and return in the afternoon, take lunch and water. 86
