THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT ACT. 117 Note 2.-SECTION. 1. In case of the temporary absence or T e m p o r a r y disability of the head of any Office or Bureau established by a b s e n c e, etc law, or in case of a vacancy in any such Office, any official or employee in the Office or Bureau may be designated by the Secretary of the Department in which the Office or Bureau is established temporarily to perform the duties of such head; and it shall be the duty of the person so designated to perform the duties of the head of the Office or Bureau without additional compensation unless the order of the Secretary of the Department designating such person shall state otherwise, in which case the person designated shall receive the compensation provided in said order, not exceeding the salary attached to such office by law: Provided, That the provisions of Act Numbered Six hundred and twenty-six shall not apply to persons receiving the full compensation attached to the position the duties of which they are designated to perform as herein set forth. In case the Office or Bureau is not by law under the charge of the Secretary of any Department, and in case of provincial and municipal officials who are appointed by the Governor-General, the designation in this section provided shall be made by the Governor-General.-Act 1197, July 19, 1904, amending section 1 of Act 408. Note 3.-SECTION. 1. Whenever any official or employee Temporary desshall be designated by the proper authority for the temporary ignations, bonded performance of the duties of the head of a Bureau or of any subordinate official or employee of any Office or Bureau, in accordance with Act Numbered Four hundred and eight, the person so designated shall be reimbursed for such expenses and disbursements as he is obliged to make on account of the requirements of a bond in the position to which he has been so designated; and this Act shall be retroactive so as to apply to all officials and employees who have heretofore, by reason of such designation, been caused to incur expenses in the manner in this section stated. Such reimbursement shall be made from the appropriation for the Department, Bureau, or Office in which the services are rendered by reason of such designation.-Act 626, February 9, 1903. SEC. 22. The short title of this Act shall be "The Provincial Short title. Government Act." SEC. 23. [This section provided that the Act, as originally enacted, should take effect on its passage.
