COMMON BASKETS OF THE PHILIPPINES 19 SAWALI OR TWILLED WEAVE. The weave most commonly found in ordinary basketry is the under-two-and-over-two weave known in Bicol as "salanigo," from the words "salad" meaning weave and "nigo," the flat, winnowing basket ("bilao," Tagalog). This weave is also known as the "binalantac" weave, in Bicol, from the Bicol word "lantac," to jump over. It is in this weave that many of the diag b Plate 43.
