"When Latreille defined the genus Oxybetus in 1796 he included no spe.cies. The first valid association of a species with this name was in 1802.

the Old World.
"Costa bk-sed his genus Alepidasp'is on a teratological form of Oxybelua
la~mellcttum Olivier, which he described as Alepidaspis diphyllus. The group
is, in all probability, isogenotypic with ANotoglossa Dahlbom, 1845.
