The Municipal code and the Provincial government act, being Act no. 82, entitled "A general act for the organization of municipal governments in the Philippine islands", and Act no. 83, entitled "A general act for the organization of provincial governments in the Philippine islands" as amended by the acts of the Philippine commission down to and including May 31, 1905, revised and codified by the Committee on revision and codification appointed by the governor-general. THE MUNICIPAL CODE. 21 treasurer and receive such additional compensation therefor, to be paid from provincial funds, as the provincial board may fix and the Treasurer of the Philippine Islands approve, anything in existing law to the contrary notwithstanding. (a) But in cases of municipalities of the first class, these salaries shall not exceed, for the president, one thousand two hundred pesos; for the municipal secretary, six hundred pesos; and for the municipal treasurer, eight hundred pesos. Note.-Provided, That in the municipality of Iloilo, Prov- Iloilo. ince of Iloilo, the salary of the secretary may be fixed by the municipal council at nine hundred pesos or less, and that of the treasurer at one thousand one hundred pesos or less.Act 346, February 3, 1902. Provided further, That in the municipality of Cebu, Prov- Cebu. ince of Cebu, the salary of the treasurer may be fixed at one thousand two hundred pesos or less.-Act 1099, April 4, 1904. (b) In cases of municipalities of the second class, for president, one thousand pesos; for municipal secretary, five hundred pesos; and for municipal treasurer, six hundred pesos. (c) In cases of municipalities of the third class, for president, eight hundred pesos; for municipal secretary, four hundred pesos; -and for municipal treasurer, four hundred pesos. (d) In cases of municipalities of the fourth class, for president, six hundred pesos; for municipal secretary, three hundred pesos; and for municipal treasurer, three hundred pesos. (e) The salary of the president, during the period when the vice-president performs his duties, shall be drawn by the vicepresident. [For the provisions prohibiting extra compensation, see note 1 to section 3 of the Provincial Government Act.] (f) The vice-president, except when serving as president, and the councilors shall receive no compensation, their offices being honorary.
