Only 25 per cent of those admitted were graduated. Yet, provided the standards of promotion were maintained, this is a record that compares favorably with similar institutions in the United States. To read the summary, however, does not tell the whole story, for the record is very different for the several divisions. In examining statements following, it must be remembered that whereas the Colleges of Medicine and Law receive their students from the sophomore year of the College of Liberal Arts after the poor students have been fairly well eliminated, the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Engineering receive theirs directly from the high schools.
